Runner/Cyclist vs Car
Runner's World is a great resource of mine. Especially while I am recovering from some knee and heal injuries. Today, I ran across this on their site, and despite it being a cycling graphic, I thought it was great for anyone who out exercising among those in their automobiles. And while I would love to write a commentary on the fight between car and bike, I will restrain myself with only one comment: Person in the car, we are not looking for a fight. You are in a car, we are on a bike. You WILL WIN. And thought that might sound nice at first, it won't be for you, your drivers license or your insurance. Just keep that in mind, next time you want to hit one of us, cyclist or runner.
These are some great ideas and alternatives to my standard "give 'em the ole bird." My personal two favorites are starred. I might actually try the "call me" one, just to see what they do.

Presto Pesto
The Kinfolk publication is no longer a secret gem. But what maybe be still it's best kept secret is how gorgeous all the videos they do for it as well. Talk about food porn! Now, you may know I have been on a bit of a detox diet of late (and have successfully already lost about 3 pounds! Yey!). And as such have been staying away from white starches and such. But this viedo by the people at Kinfolk on the Art of Pesto is just to good to not share. It might jsut be the first thing I try when I start eating normal again!

I am not a huge fan of Valentine's day. Mainly because I was single for so long and it just seemed to bring me and all my single gals down. Last year was one of the first times I celebrated it with a bf I truly love with all my heart. I will admit it was special. Along with a romantic meal at Ado in Venice, I even managed to DIY his gift based after this lovely etsy shop by sarah & bendrix (except mine was white and red). I really love how it came out. And it's really a piece of art you can display year round!
But this February 14th will be pretty low key. Not big dinner out, no big gift or celebration. We like to celebrate each other everyday. So, this year I will be focusing on friends and family on Valentine's Day to make sure they know how luck I feel I am to have them in my life.
Although I know many many of you do celebrate it. And I thought this etsy shop by Tenisha was just to adorable to not share.

the 13th of Friday
It's the first Friday the 13th of 2012. Is it's supposed to be a lucky day or frightening? I admit, it started a bit scary for me this morning stepping on the scale for the first time this year... and I did that even BEFORE I even remembered it was Friday the 13th. So, it all makes sense now. Ha!
Anyhow, I am not going to beat myself up about the numbers that I saw. I am just going to make a change. Eating consciously and tracking my calorie intake and exercising at least 6 days a week (thought I really love sweating, it's the eating part that I have the hardest part with).

I am having one of those days where you just mentally beat yourself every second. There are some changes I would like to make and one of these is definitely to start eating better. I would call myself a healthy over-eater. For the most part I eat good foods, lots of veggies and fruit, not too many processed foods and I drink 3 liters of water a day. But I love food, so I usually just eat (and drink) a little too much.
On top of it, I usually try to sweat 6 days a week. During the holidays, the bf and I hired a personal trainer during the holidays to help us both with our problem areas and lose those last few pounds. And thought I didn't gain weight over the holidays, I didn't lose either.
